Split view and tagging mode request.
« on: December 30, 2007, 06:15:31 am »

The best way to tag images I have found so far is to have a split view of two columns. One with a vertical scrolling list of tumbnails and one with a pane (keywords/import folders/rating). The only drawback of this method I found is that tagging mode will not work as I hoped it would. I can update keywords by dragging selected images from one column into the keywords pane in the other column. Which works ok. But it would be even better if I could take advantage of the checking the little boxes method.

My guess is that this will be not easy to implement, because how the pane is directly linked to the list content of the view scheme in one column. But hopefully I will be proven wrong. It sure would make tagging images that need several keywords attached to them easier to tag in split view mode for me.

It sounds like what you really want is to put the panes on the left instead of on top, like in a handheld view.

Indeed I think your right, split view is the only way to achieve this now.

Monitor 1
The action window shows the tagging info and is used to rate the image.
Next the column with a vertical list
Next the column with the pane with the keywords etc.

Monitor 2
The display view with a fullscreen preview of the selected image from the list colum.

In build 404 and later:
Fixed: Panes can be optionally set to show on the left or right of library views.

For what it's worth, I think we meant "NEW: ...", not "Fixed: ...".

Either way, hope it works out for you.

This is great! Thank you!
I wonder if would be possible to make this work independently in each view.
