Differences in MJ 7.2.272 and 8.0.336
« on: August 06, 2002, 08:05:39 pm »

In media Jukebox 7 there is an area where you can click on Media Library and it will show you all the artists and beside them it will tell you how many Albums they are on and many tracks they have and the combined length and size. This was a great feature that seems to be missing in Media jukebox 8. I've tryed all the ways I can to re-create this but it does not seem to be possible. Can any one help me get this feature back into media Jukebox.

I think the feature you are looking for is statistics.  Just right-click on any of the nodes in the Media Library tree and select "Statistics...".

Thanks Vlad, but Statistics is pale in comparison to what the old version 7.2 did. You can't even sort the statistics in any different order much less see how many albums or songs you have for a certain artist. Also knowing the overall length of music for each artist and how much space was great too.

I have to wonder why the people who make media Jukebox would take this feature away.

Anyway can anyone help me get it back in the version 8 of media Jukebox. Otherwise I guess I'm going to have to go back to the old version or find something new.

Yeah, when i 've seen this post i've remember that i used this a lot to know wich artists i had more songs, how many time i had of each artist, and how much size or how many albums. The statistics are rather less apealling than how it looked in MJ 7.2.272. , and therefore you can't sort it.
Please, bring it back

Can someone from JRiver tell me why you would remove some of the features you had previously which were better than the competitions (Reason why I registered in the first place)Why not just add and improve than remove. Can I still somehow download a feature where it will tell me for each artist: How many songs, how many albums, how much space is taken up and many hours worth of music.

And no statistics is not even close to what you had in ver 7.2, in fact I'm not sure what statistics is there for as it can't even be sorted.

Can someone from J river please tell me if I have to stick with version 7.2 because I lost something really important to me in version 8

If you right click on an Artist name in the Media Library and choose Statistics, it will show you how many albums you have for that Artist. It's not as nice as having a big general overview, but it does work.

I never used the old stats screen that much, so I don't know what else it could do that the new method doesn't.

How many songs, how many albums, how much space is taken up and many hours worth of music.

This is only some of the things you could do with the old view. For instance: if you wanted to know if you had as many kbs to fill one cdrom with one band you went to this view, sorted by kbps and you could easily see witch artists you have 650 or 700 kbs; now you've to go band by band and this some stepback from previous version.
And like this it worked for other things. And no, statistics it's not doin the same function!!!

I never used the old stats screen that much, so I don't know what else it could do that the new method doesn't.

But other people used it (unless JimBob and me)

Hey Matt you helped me with the last situation can you help me with this one too?

The statistics in 7.2 far exceed the new stats box in 8.0.

At this point I'm using vers 8.0.336 for playing music and version 7.2 for everything else and I mean everything.

If you guys at J river are making the changes, is it OK to know why you would take the useful tool for getting artist info out of MJ 7.2 and replace with something called statistics in MJ 8.0.336.

Is the original ever coming back??, was there a saving of some kind of space etc etc.

I notice this forum is helpful for somethings but not answers to other things. Am I offending you guys by asking these questions?
