Trying save tabs on exit - doesn't seem to work

I have just purchased MC 12.0.473.  There is a setting to allow you to save the screen settings on exit but I don't seem to be able to get it to work.  Trying to save a 3-split screen view.  But each time I go back in it is a fresh display.

I am new to the forun so apologies if the answer to this is obvious.

Just have searched a little longer. 

Made a couple of changes in Tools>Options>Startup>Startup Interface  Set location to 'Last location' and now works fine.
