Can someone from the JR team explain the sort logic for the group by album view.
My issue is that no matter how I sort a standard view, if i then tell it to group by album, the order is drastically changed, and seemingly according to no logic I can see. The top album is niether the alphabetically first or last, the artist is neither first or last, it isnt alphabetical by (multiple artists), its not alphabetical by filename. for the life of me, i cant figure out what its ordered by. I fully believe this is something ive set incorrectly, but i need help finding it. Can someone tell me how its supposed to sort?

If you group by "Album" in details view, it will sort the groupings by Album Artist (auto), then Album name.

Inside the groupings, it will use whatever sorting you select.

well... thats what i expected, but it dosent seem to be whats happeneing. let me give you an example.

Album artist (auto) : (multiple Artists)
album name : Now That's What I Call Music 19

This one is 5th
Album artist (auto) : (multiple Artists)
album name : 100 Extended Tracks

this one is 120th
Album artist (auto) : (multiple Artists)
album name : The World's Favorite Piano Music

this one is 121th
Album artist (auto) : (multiple Artists)
album name : Billboard Top 48 of 1946

Heres album names from 170-172, all (multiple Artists)

Billboard Top 100 of 1959
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue / An American in Paris
Billboard Top 100 of 1960

Album Artist (auto)
Date
Album

The idea is to show albums by the same artist in chronological order.

ok, That makes sense, thats exactly whats happening. Is there anyway to make it do that for all single artist albums but ignore date for multi artists albums, since it really dosent make sense in that specific instance

Would it be possible to expand this into sorting on what is specified in the sort column? And put those that has various elements on the bottom, or something..?

I have the same question about the sort logic but for the video in theater view... I don't understand why the file are not sorted by name. I tried a lot of things but I never found how to do this. It is possible ? what is the logic?

1. Where do the fields that fill Edit Include files>Sort By come from ?
They aren't my columns for that View Scheme, my "in-view" sorting", and seem somewhat randomly chosen.

2. How about multi-artist (varying fields) get auto listed AFTER any Tile with the Album Artist (auto) field value the same?

Multi-Artist albums listed first looks messy and I use a custom field to help sort these after single artist albums; I want to sort by Artist Album (auto) so I gve mutli-artist albums a "Z" in Description and sort with that first (single artist albums get an "a").
