Can MC 12 be used with Blackberry 8310 Smartphone (EDGE) w/ microSD card?

...and if not, will 13 be designed to work on BB?

I've seen lots of "reads" of this post but no "replies." Should I have asked this on a different board?

MC doesn't run on the Blackberry.

I'm not sure whether you can sync to it from MC.  In general, if the device can be seen as a drive, it's probably possible.  MC has options you can change for the device.  Search here for pdt.xml for more information.

I'll move this to the device board.

There is a specific handheld board, but my guess is that no one replied because no one really knows.  MC fully handles treating ALL flash cards (including USB flash disks, Compact Flash cards, and SD cards) as though they are handhelds, so it'll probably work as long as the BlackBerry doesn't require some stupid database or folder structure.

Do you have a card reader or are you trying to use the Blackberry directly?  Have you tried it?

If MC doesn't detect the card (it probably will and will open the handheld sync AW), you can add it manually by going to Options --> Handheld --> Add device.  Any standard path will work.

Have not yet bought an SD micro card to put in the BB, or external card reader as I wanted to get an idea of whether it would work or not before I purchased. Have tried to add BB manually as is (it shows up as removable drive H) but got message "The specified path could not be found or created."

Try restarting MC.  Try rebooting.

I have  BB 8330 and a 4GB SD card.  Although I don't use MC to sync to it I just tried it and it seems to recognize the SD card fine allows all the sync options.

Thanks Wino. Think I'll grab a card and give that a try.

JimH, when you say restart MC and/or reboot, do you recommend I do so with BB connected, or reconnect after reboot?

Could be a beautiful thing not carrying around two devices (BB and ipod), and my 12 yr old might get a bonus gift of the ipod to boot!

BTW, any idea what's the max capacity SD micro card available that the BB will take?

I find the BB music interface a little clunky - but then I am used to Rockbox on my Sansa.   Rockbox on the BB... mmm... that would be nice.

As far as max capacity goes I'm not sure.  I have a 4gb in there now so I know it supports SDHC cards.  There are lots of Blackberry sites out there.  I personally go here when I need a BB app or have a BB question:

Cheers!

Some Blackberries (is that the plural?) support SDHC and some don't.  Be careful and ask around before you buy (not that they cost a bunch anymore).

Many devices don't support any SD cards larger than 2GB.

Another good place to look/ask around is: http://crackberry.com/
