Saving tags (450 remaining)
« on: October 13, 2008, 01:15:30 am »

My music is on a remote media server and this process for whatever reasons takes a really long time. It's only down to 435 remaining from the time I first took the screenshot.

Why does this process take so long?

It's probably re-saving a lot of your media.  It took MC 24 hours to rewrite my entire music library (420GB).

Oh yes, I've had to do this three times or so.

Yeah I took a closer look I have a feeling it is updating the cover art... it would probably go a lot faster if it wasn't transferring over the network.

I always make sure to use gigabit, which will give a likely max of 100 MB/second.  Generally speaking, over the network is pretty impressive.  I regularly get 50MB/sec or more to my server.  Granted that's nothing compared to what I've seen it max out at--over 400MB/sec.
