It's probably a cd lookup feature that's trying to look for matadata. Never used it for DVD's, but it will do this for cd's.
Try to go to Tools - Options - General and Meatadata options. Try to remove the CD lookup option.
Might be a way to differenciate between cd's and DVD's though?
