Recent MJ versions crash on My box
« on: July 16, 2002, 05:48:00 pm »

Hi,

Did a first time clean install of ver. 8.0329 today on my second box.  It's an Intel mobo.  Saw a lot of goofy behavior.  After a couple of reboots, the only thing that crashes MJ is when I click on CD, DVD, Handhelds.  I have not checked many other features.

I installed ver 8.0323 on the top of that.  Burned one CD - no problems.

Now folks are bragging about 8.0330, so I installed that on the top of what I had.  Again crash when I click on CD, DVD, Handhelds.

I'm getting two types of error messages: Gray box "This porgram has performed an illegal operation..."

The other is a white box: with Close and Continue choices.

JohnT can say more tomorrow, but ASPI doesn't look right.  See the FAQ about ASPICHK.

Did you power off and back on?

Does the drive have an audio CD in it when it is crashing? If so, try it without any CD in the drive. Also, try it with CDDB disabled. I'm just trying to narrow down where the problem is.

Thanks,
John T.

JohnT,

I'm pretty sure CDDB was checked and there was blank CD in a drive.

I did ASPI check and it was OK.  Installed Adapted 4.71 in any event and re-installed MJ 8.0330.  It is not crashing. Doing other testing.
