DirectX Host and ConvolverFilter not working
« on: May 07, 2009, 01:06:43 am »

Hi.

I am using MC 13.0.152 and Convolver 4.4, but I can not get this to work. I have tried to set this up both in XP x32 and XP x64, but no luck so far. Zoom player and Foobar2000 both works fine with my convolver. I generated filters using REW EQ, and I have tried all the different ones, to make sure it is not a filter problem. What happens is that I can point to the desired filter file, calculate the attenuation, tuning rigour etc. The problem is that I can not get the cross in the check box to work (stay). It disappears quickly, leaving me with no active filters. I have tried a lot of different settings, but now I am stuck. Is this supposed to work at all? Am I doing something terribly wrong? What is the problem here? I really hope someone can help me out with this one!

It works for me under 32bit vista. The only issue I have is that I have to select it again each time I start mc. Somehow mc's dx host does not remember that I have selected it.

You could also try the vst version of convolver. The latest version of mc has native support for vst plugins. Unfortunately I could not get it to work yet with convolver.

Is there a guide or some documentation for setting this up?

From what you wrote it sounds like you installed it correctly. Check under options > file types that for the files your are playing jrivers own jr audio engine (using input plugin) is used and not directshow.

If you can not get this to work using jr dsp dx host plugin and the vst plugin. Then you can play your files through directshow with the fddshow audio processor filter. It has an option to use a convolver. I have tried this in the past and it does work.

I reinstalled MC (and DirectX Host) together with convolver on my XP64. Used jr audio engines input plugin for my FLAC-files. Under Direct X Host i selected convolver, loaded my file, and it did not change anything. Same problem.

I am not able to get the VST plugin to show up in DX Host. I do not know why. I tried to select it from plugin manager, but I get an error. When I use fddshow audio processor i get an error message: "list index out of bounds (0)".

This is kind of boring, and it is kind of time consuming as well. Hope someone can help me! :)
