Home Automation
« on: October 19, 2009, 08:48:23 pm »

What have other users been up to lately in the area of home automation?  Is anyone using the X10 products?  I finally took a look at them and have integrated several units around my workstation.  Mainly lights and fans.  Blind/window control?  Thermostat?  Computer/internet integration?

My limited use includes remotes, transceiver, and control modules.  From what I understand, the remote broadcasts RF to the transceiver which broadcasts the signals over the power lines.  However, it seems to me that this only works on common circuit breakers.  Is this normal and is there a way around this?

smarthome.com has a hybrid x10 (powerline) and low power RF module system called Insteon.
