Rewind fast forward speed
« on: November 07, 2009, 07:42:16 am »

Is it just me or do others notice terrible television recording rewind and fast forward display?  It updates the screen quite infrequently and seems to jump or get "stuck" for long periods.  Rewinding or fast forwarding DVDs looks a lot better.

I'm still using XP but the VMR7 renderer solves this issue for me. The screen updates far more frequently during seeking using this rather than VMR9 or EVR.

With PowerDVD, I had breathtaking rewinds and fast forwards.  As good as I have ever seen on any system.  Now with Windows 7, I love not having to install extra junk software, but the higher speed seeking is not as flawless.  I like 5 fps updating of where you are.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the way TiVo works in this area is a big goal.  Just try its seeking.  DVD players are terrible (Blu ray is worse).  HDDs help a lot.
