Unknown publisher security warning
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:44:56 pm »

I've got windows 7 installed on my htpc. Some time after installing, it started complaining about MC being from an 'unknown publisher and needs my permission to make changes on this computer'. Now this is annoying since I want it to boot straight into theaterview without me needing to open my laptop and remotely click the 'ok' button.
I'm not sure what I did that made windows act like this. The MC icon has got a yellow shield on since this started, and I have to give it administrator rights to launch it otherwise it doesn't start. Tried reinstalling MC but that didn't work. I'm hoping I won't have to reinstall windows..
Anyone know how to fix this?

Is it possible you told windows to run Media Center as Administrator?

Media Center 14.exe isn't signed.  It doesn't need to run as administrator, so we don't bother.  Several other components like the installer are signed.

I think I told it to run as admin after the problems started. If I don't start it as admin it doesn't launch. But there is a process in the task manager, 'Media Center 14.exe'. The installer does the same, I have to launch it as admin to get it to install.
