What the deal with the encoding a cd to an mp3? I know I can get the files off of the cd with out a problem. But what's the bennefit of encoding to mp3.

Sorry if that a dumb question. But I have a few more to make that one sound pretty good.

When you use "Rip CD" (see FAQ for help), you are ripping and encoding to whatever you choose.  MP3 is one of these.  It compresses the file by about 10 to 1.
