Start MC15 with library on the server
« on: August 27, 2010, 04:28:40 pm »

I am reconfiguring my MC setup in the house and have questions.
I have one computer acting as my music server with MC installed, but only serving the clients. Then I have three PCs in different rooms as clients to run MC with the library on this server.

1) How can I start MC in server only mode? I do not need MC running on the server all the time since I do not listen to music there. It even does not have speakers connected.

2) How can I get the clients to always start the library on the server?

3) I only can have three installs of MC. Do I need a new licence for the third client. I assume the Server is also counting as one licence.

4) Is there a better way of doing this compared to my plans?

Thanks for any help and advice.

In Options for Startup, you can set Media Server to start on Windows Startup.

Clients can't start anything on the server, but if you're running Media Server, Library Server will work.

You're OK on licensing.  Thanks for asking.

Thanks. Jim.
My second question was badly worded: I wanted to ask, how can I always start the clients using the library on the library server instead of using the default library on the client?

I found it: Use the Library Manager ...
