MC15 on WHS
« on: September 02, 2010, 02:08:28 pm »

Guys,

I run MC15 on my WHS and it runs great. Due to high energy prices I am going to start and put it to standby via the Lights-Out add in. The add in has the facility to stop and start services prior to going to standby or waking up.

My question is, do I need to stop the Media Center 15 service or will it be OK if I put the server to sleep with this service running.

Cheers,

John

Media Center itself is designed to nicely handle system sleep, including waking up for television recording and going back to sleep.

The Media Center service is just a simple service needed for talking to remotes on Vista, and doing a couple other simple tasks.  It also supports system sleep.

If you're talking about some special service wrapper for Media Center, then I'm not sure.  Assuming the wrapper doesn't interfere, I wouldn't expect any problems.
