Wasapi and XP compatible for MC15?
« on: January 12, 2011, 04:20:40 pm »

Hi,
I just started tu use  MC 15.0.172 with great pleasure. I'd like to tune it for my arcam rDac but I can't   :'(
My concern is that both wasapi and wasapi event style don't appear as audio output mode options, whereas they are listed by the plugin manager. My PC runs under XP SP3.
I noticed the issue was raised 1 year ago, any news ?
Does that mean those modes are vista or 7 dedicated only?
Any trick?
Thanks

WASAPI means Windows Audio Session Application Programming Interface. It is a system that was first introduced in Vista.

Since you probaly would like to use WASAPI in the exclusive mode for bypassing most of the WASAPI technology (i.e. the OS level audio mixer and converter in Vista & 7) you have nothing to worry. Kernel Streaming can do the same on XP (i.e. bypass the XP mixer). If your audio device has a dedicated ASIO driver you can do the same also by selecting the ASIO mode.

Thanks a lot Jim and Alex for being so reactive and explaining so well.
Too much apps on the Pc and XP SP3 is so lovely tuned that I will happily turn to Kernel or ASIO and spend my time with a few beers rather than reinstalling the whole.
MC15 truly rocks!
