Internet radio on dlna device

I'm new here but can't seem to find an answer anywhere in the forums so forgive me if this has been asked before.
I'm trying to stream internet radio channels to my samsung bd-c5500 bluray player via dlna which is working fine for mp3's. I've added some stations to AUDIO>CONNECTED MEDIA then chose "web radio" as genre and so now they show up as music files on my player but they won't play, the bluray player gives me the error "not supported file format"

Any suggestions?

Try saving the URL locations as Playlists instead.

I haven't found a way to display playlists on the bluray player, only audio, video or photos, and my playlists don't show up under audio.

Another person had trouble with a DLNA device that was unable to see playlists when they were at the root of the DLNA tree.  But this was an audio-only device; still, perhaps you can test if you can add a Playlists section to your Audio tree under the DLNA server.  See this thread.

Thanks MrC,
I can now at least see my audio playlist on my player but it still gives me  "not supported file format" error.
I've tried various stations with mp3, aac and ogg but still none will play.
I've also tried a variety of audio conversion and encoding options.

No idea.  I took a quick look for anything re: streaming internet radio to that player and came up essentially blank.

Samsung apparently wants you to use their own DLNA implementation called AllShare.  But I can't tell if it offers streaming.

Are you able to get streaming using their sanctioned methods?

There is a firmware update for the unit, dated April of this year.  Check that you're up to date.

Ok, Thanks again MrC,
I'm up to date on firmware.
I haven't used Samsungs own dlna software, most people seem to think ts crap.
JRiver seems to work really well, a nice smooth interface but unless I can get it to pass on internet radio by dlna then I'll pass. I have a 2Tb drive connected by usb to my bluray player and just playing media works fine like that. The other option would be to use JRiver in theatre mode from an old pc connected directly to the tv. I have an old P4 I could use I guess and get a media centre remote.
