If the defualt track is a PCM track, and the I use the OSD to try to switch to an HD track like DTS Master Audio or Dolby True HD I get a hang or if I am lucky it will start after a good long time and then play in fast forward trying to sync.

Would there be a way to tag the "preferred audio stream". Or could there be a tick box on in the Theater view that you could set audio stream before you choose watch. It may just be a timing problem but it it is a bit maddening. I almost never am going to choose PCM 2 channel, when I have an HD Audio track.

Any thoughts? This doesn't seem to be a problem with DVD or some lower bit rate HD material, but on the big fat high bit rate videos they just don't like to swtich tracks without drama

Mmmm odd for a couple of reasons - I've never seen the issue of changing audio tracks (you may want to post the direct show info) and also the preference set by LAVSplitter (as used by RO and RO HQ) is as follows:
1) Selects Audio Track with the Most Channels, then
2) Selects Highest Quality Audio Track:
  a) Uncompressed, True-HD, FLAC Etc (eg WAV)
  b) DTS-MA (as you may only be getting the core), DTS-HR, EACS
  c) DTS/DD

Also this is media that you have imported into the library and played from there, MC will remember your stream selection preference and use it next time you play.  You can see this into in the "Playback Info" field and even copy and paste it on like content.
