Help with media center 16 and Hrt streamer II

Can only get player to play 24/96 music at 16/96. If there is a solution it would be appreciated. I am running win 7  on my laptop.

Looks like you are using DirectSound, the Windows default.
In this case set the format to 24 bits in the sound panel.

Also check DSP studio in MC
Set bit depth to 24 in Ouput Format

An alternative is to use WASAPI in MC, this will allow for automatic sample rate switching.

Regardless your choice, always activate 24 bit everywhere as this is the input the DAC is capable of.

Vincent, I have yet to use a device which allows for automatic sample rate switching with WASAPI (even in exclusive mode). I have used sound cards from M-Audio, Asus, and Creative. These only automatically switch when using ASIO. Regarding pro devices, I have used the Echo AudioFire 8 and the Steinberg MR816x. These also only automatically switch when using ASIO. I have also researched many other pro devices (and read their manuals) and can't find a single one that switches automatically when using WASAPI. I have come to the conclusion that WASAPI is not Microsoft's ASIO in that it can't control the devices sample rate. In my experience with WASAPI, the hardware's sample rate always controls the software. Could you research this some more?

WASAPI Exclusive does change the actual sample rate sent to most high-end USB DACs.

Mojave is right about ASIO with regards to internal cards.  This is why we recommend ASIO when a card has a native (not ASIO4All) ASIO driver.
