Since upgrading to the latest few builds of version 8, MJ closes immediately upon opening. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, same problem. I'm running under XP, logged in as Administrator and havent experienced this sort of trouble with MJ in the past.

Did you install the program under "logged in as Administrator" if not they have said in the past that you need to install under each user on your system for that user to use the program.

Check the system tray to see if MJ is running minimized.  That was a bug in 8.0.283.

No minimized occurence of MJ in the system tray, and no version of it running according to task manager.

All I get is the splash screen, a brief look at the UI, what appears to to be the import new media dialog, and then it just disappears. With the previous build, it would leave an icon in the system tray (which would go away if moused over) but in the latest build, nothing at all.

Try a reboot, reinstall.  You may not have had a successful install.

Make Sure Your Installing From A Media Jukebox.exe That Is About 9 Megs.

The Smaller Size Exe Files about 6 megs Did not have all the files in it and was intended for updating MJ8 to save users download time.

maybe a full download of MJ8 again and see what happens.

another idea, if that don't work:

uninstall MJ8 and install MJ7 and see if that works. If It Does upgrade to the current Version of MJ8.

I had this exact same problem (crashing, not minimized). It wasn't 283 though. Maybe it was 284...can't remember. I had to reopen it about 5 times before it would take.

I'm currently using 276 however. No crashing problems of that type.
