Sony BluRay Player Audio Stutter
« on: July 31, 2011, 09:23:16 am »

Hi,
I have a Sony BS-S370 bluray connected via WIRED ethernet to a switch. It is playing my .mkv files video just fine. However, after a few minutes (or less) the Audio begins to stutter.

This system worked fine with 15.x.x and perhaps the early 16's. I am a paid user. I enjoy the functionality of MC, plesae help!

Any ideas?

Settings?

Thanks,

Rick

I have not tried .141 but .128 (last stable) has the same problem.

This USED to work quite well. Seems to have broken when they switched to Red October. I believe it is a transcode issue. FFMPEG eats way more CPU time than it did.

Is it possible it wasn't transcoding before?
I assume you are using the Sony bd/tv template?
Check your advanced settings. Should be DLNA, DLNAExtra and probably the mpeg override enabled and set to video/mpeg mimetype and dlna flags set to MPEG_PS_NTSC (or PAL).

Yes all the setup is the same.

As mentioned before, it seems to be ffmpeg related.

Ugh, I just ended up posting the same thing in 4 threads!

Anyway, the DLNA video transcoding to mpeg2/dvd code is currently undergoing a lot of work. You might want to try again in a few builds. ffmpeg is likely to go away..

Just installed the newest version .156 Still does the same thing, although now it's Media Center using 100% for transcoding instead of ffmpeg.

I hooked up an ASUS O!PLAY that I had lying around to the same cable that is feeding the Sony Bluray player and it will play back ANY movie file I have flawlessly. Directly through standard network file sharing.

No joy at all when trying DLNA using Media Center, all files are invalid.

I wouldn't care quite so much about the lost $$$ but it was working fine at some point...then broke during an update. I am surprised no one can tell me what version worked and where to get it.

Please compare the settings of an older version that works.  You could install it and restore your library and settings from a backup.

In DLNA options you can select Sony.  It's under Media Network/Add or Configure.  Add the Sony and remove generic.

If I KNEW which old version worked, I would be using it.

I am NOT using the Generic DLNA server. I am using the SONY BD/TV version.

The Sony blu-ray player (and TV's) are way more picky than the O!Play or WDTV.

Are the files valid when you browse them but not when you try to play them?
Since we have the same player here there should be a way to reproduce this.
I'll PM you a place to upload a non-working file.
