MadVR & DVD
« on: September 09, 2011, 08:12:13 am »

It seems that MadVR will now do DVD content (as long as ffdshow yadif is in the graph).

Any chance of implementing this in ROHQ?

I see Matt is back, so a shameless bump!

Any chance MadVR could work for DVD this way for ROHQ?

Hope you had a good vacation.

I've never had good luck using ffdshow as a video decoder for DVD.  I've seen menu hangs among other problems.

I've talked to madshi about supporting multiple inputs like other renderers so that any decoder could be used and madVR would fully support DVD.  I think it's on his long to-do list.

Sandy,
Don't the last couple of posts on that topic say DVDs won't work with MadVR? Maybe I'm misreading/misinturrepting something.

I think the last couple of posts say that DVDs don't work with Nev's LAV video filter. Renethx seems to have success in going:

MS DVD Navigator --> ffdshow --> MadVR

Not via LAV Video.

Having a 'decent' renderer is important for me as 90% of my collection is DVD (as VIDEO_TS).

I agree 100%. My collection is mostly old-school (DVDs). I even have some VHS movies - but don't tell anyone.

Ha! Yes I had some of those. But only about 6 or 7. Gave them to charity a few years ago and bought the titles on DVD!

Still have some home movies on VHS that I keep meaning to digitise.
