Media Subtypes (Anime? Cartoon?)
« on: September 15, 2011, 04:02:46 pm »

Looks like the Media Subtypes are hard coded? Or, at least, looking at them in the field editor they're greyed out for me. Am I doing something wrong or am I really stuck putting Anime in "Other" so that they don't clutter the TV subtype? "Cartoon" would be nice as well...

Yes, the Media Subtype field is locked. You could probably find a ton of discussions on it by searching the forum if you're curious about the reasons.
Often what people do to work around this lock is to make a custom field to use in place of or in conjunction with the default Media Subtype field. If you use it in place of the default field you do lose the automated functionality that JR has added for the Media Subtype field though.
Hope this helps. -JB

Hurm, okay. I searched for "media subtype" before posting but didn't see anything relevant. Looking now however I see the periodic posts of people asking for it. Oh well.

Yes joy of joys the media subtype is locked! ain't  that the greatest thing ever. >:(  Recently the media subtype of "Adult" was added to the list so now we can separate out our porn yay! and certainly I can't complain about the importance of porn in my life but I do find it irritating that that there is still no "Music" subtype that would be far more useful. Oh well such is the ways of the mysterious media subtype god's, beyond our simple understanding.
