MC Portable -- bringing CoreAVC along with you?
« on: November 15, 2011, 07:16:24 pm »

Hello, I've not really used MC Portable yet, but the concept does seem appealing.

I'm wondering if it's possible to bring CoreAVC along with my Portable installation so that even on computers which I do not own, I can plug a thumbdrive or something in and watch videos. This kinda piques me because MC has a built-in copy of ffdshow as part of Red October -- so I'm wondering -- if that's possible, why not CoreAVC?

MC primarily uses LAV Video for video decoding, which in addition to being free, seems to be less buggy than CoreAVC.

Will LAV Video work on low-powered machines?

Yes. It will also automatically hardware accelerate video if you are using a compatible nVidia card.

It uses a tuned version of ffmpeg, which is what is utilized in ffdshow.

Use Red October standard on low-powered machines. Save HQ for the beefier rigs.
