Whoa! Samsung player plugin!?!
« on: May 17, 2002, 03:47:52 pm »

Hi guys.

I have been hoping and praying for a plug-in for my YEPP player (64MB Hip Hop Yepp Player(YP-NEU64B)), and for a long time Jim and Co. have had a problem getting an SDK from Samsung.

Now I see a plugin for another model on the plug-ins page! Awesome!

Did you guys get the SDK? Will the plugin work with other samsung players? (Please say yes!)

Shoot! It doesn't work with my YEPP NEU model. I thought it might since the samsung software is the same for all models (non-rio port).

I get an error dialog that says "Please reload YEPP drivers." from MJ, I hit OK, then MJ crashes.

Hopefully you fellas can make it work! Please, I don't usually beg, but anything is better than the stock software (uses filenames only - no tag information!) or worse *gasp* Real Jukecrap that it normally uses.

Dillweed,
I am so sorry.  We would love to support all Samsung models, but they are indifferent to us, at best.

I could be wrong, but I think that model is manufactured by someone else.

Unfortunately, Steve Grove is gone for the weekend.  He has another life, as a member of the Duluth Symphony.  He is an accomplished musician who moonlights for us.  We're lucky to have him.

Monday he will be back.

I suggest you contact Samsung (again?) to let them know what you want.

DillWeed,

The plug-in we have for the Yepp should work for any of the Yepp 20 series players which are based on a modified RioPort Plug-in.  Unfortunately, other Yepp players I tested did not work because they appear to be based on a later RioPort SDK than the one we have (one that they want a huge sum of money for).  Samsung doesn't want to talk to us about this so we are stuck for now, but we always have hope that things may change as we get better and better known. We will keep trying.

Steve:

Thanks for the update. I hope they change their mind, too, and soon!

Can you believe I actually bought this (for my wife) without checking to see if a plug-in was available for MJ? I just automatically assumed it would be since Samsung players make up a good percentage of the market. Won't make that mistake again.

I could almost taste it! Oh well, back to waiting...

DillWeed,

Sorry to let you down.  I tried a few more things this morning to try to work around this, but I don't see a way without the correct files from RioPort or Samsung.  I am now going 2 blocks out our door to throw my Yepp in the Mississippi. It should skip pretty good. Anyone south of Minnesota should look for it floating by in the next few days with my compliments.
