Region error when trying to play ripped movie
« on: December 28, 2011, 06:42:58 pm »

I'm new to Media Center and it has been a few years since I've ripped movies, but after a successful non-Blueray rip (or so it appeared), I'm getting the following error:

"This player is incompatible with the region marking of this disc"

I checked the region under Windows Device Manager and I'm showing Region 1, which is where I am and the title I ripped is Region 1.  I tried to rip it again but I'm still receiving the same error.  Also, I tried a second title but I don't get the message above just a blank screen when the movie tries to play.  I'm running Windows 64bit on a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp.  This is a temporary system until I get a new HTPC.  Do I need to make any changes to settings in Media Center for compatibility or does anyone have a clue what the error might be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know what "non-Blueray rip" means.

To play any Bluray disc or rip, you need AnyDVD HD or equivalent installed.

Thanks for the quick response Jim.  I installed AnyDVD and it fixed it.  By non Blue-ray I meant a standard def DVD.

Thanks,
