Rewriting on Source Disk failed
« on: February 23, 2012, 01:36:50 pm »

Hello from Germany,

my System is Win7 uand JR17. Looking on the Screen "Genre" I changed the Genre of one complete folder

  • clicked with right mouse button on the folder
  • choosed "tools" and "Search and Replace"
  • choosed the field "Genre" and changed "Ppo" into "Pop"

On the JR17 Screen it worked properly, the change was done.

Then I wanted to rewrite this changes to my source Harddisk (External USB Drive). But this didn't work, I always get the message "failed, please check write protection or if the files are existent".

>>> I can play the Music by clicking on them without Problems. Also I checked Write Protection.

What can be the reason ?

By the way another queestion. Is my shown way the best way to change genres of big folders including many songs ?

Regards

The text 'please check write protection' is not in JRiver source code, so perhaps this is a Windows or driver message?

You might double-check your folder ownership if you're using NTFS.  Sometimes folders end up owned by someone else and then you can't write to them.
