Help - Media Center 17 keeps crashing
« on: January 21, 2012, 12:29:36 am »

Hi
I am experiencing ongoing problems with MC17.  When I start the program I get the normal home page. After 1-2 minutes I get a message that MC has stopped working, Windows looking for solutions etc.  Nothing further happens and I have to cancel and MC closes.
I am using Win 7 64 bit.  I have repeatedly uninstalled MC, rebooted, reinstalled etc.  I have tried each new version as they are posted.
This problem has been happening for about a month since I upgraded to MC17.  On occasion in the past it has worked for a while but invariably crashes.
I have tried the recommended trouble-shooting settings, run as administrator etc.
MC does not run for long enough to even try to change settings from within the program.
Getting very despondent...

Any help appreciated

Jose

Please try the link called "Stability" in my signature.  Be sure to update to the latest build at the top of the MC17 board.

Go to Windows "Event Viewer" (under Control Panel>Adminitrative Tools). See what, if any, errors have been occuring. I was having trouble with Microsoft's Security Essentals program (error was called SidebySide). I had to completely remove it and reinstall (with newer version) to solve an on-going problem I was having.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the assistance.
I have disabled auto import which seems to have helped and MC17 is now running.
I have enabled logging and will monitor this.
Win 7 event viewer shows a lot of entries with Bonjour causing problems - I have stopped this service

Will report back on problems if they continue.

Appreciate the help

Win 7 event viewer shows a lot of entries with Bonjour causing problems - I have stopped this service
Bonjour is part of iTunes.
