Option To Play Video File Inside MC Missing
« on: January 19, 2012, 09:51:59 pm »

Since upgrading to the stable version, I lost the option to play You Tube content inside the MC player.

Is there a way to restore this option? I have been over all the settings and can't seem to find it.

You Tube only plays viewing the smaller player as a web page.

Otherwise, really enjoying the player.

YouTube made some server changes.

A build of Media Center that handles the changes should be available within a week.

Hi Matt:

I just got the update, the three options, and the one to play the file inside the player have returned.

I am getting maybe three out of every four links I try to play inside the player returning an error message:

"Something went wrong with playback, failed to find or open file".

Try Red October Standard in Options > Video.

If that doesn't help, what particular clips are failing?  How are you playing them (Standard View vs Theater View)?

Thanks.

Hi Matt:

Sorry I missed your reply, that option (Red October Standard in Options > Video) was checked by default.

I am playing them in standard view.

I have three stable updates to MC 17, and I am still unable to play YouTube files inside the player.

This occurs for 5 out of every 6 videos links.

Same message:

"Something went wrong with playback, failed to find or open file".

(hr=0x80004005)

The same links that won't play inside the player WILL play choosing "show the web page".

So YouTube is blocking access to MC 17 on certain files?

Some do play inside the player..weird.

Please make sure you have the latest build.

If you still have problems, please provide the version of Media Center you're using, the clip you're trying to play, and whether you're using Theater View or Standard View.

Thanks.

I have the latest stable build. (17.0.82)

I am using MC 17.

As I stated above, I am playing the clips in standard view.

Examples of clips that won't play inside the player but will when viewed as a web page:

Interestingly that video plays fine for me as native playback.

I wonder what might be different?  What do you see when you try to play?  Does changing YouTube settings in Options > Services > YouTube make a difference?

Yes!

Strangely enough, changing the playback bit rate to the lowest setting in You Tube (0.5Mbit or less) now opens all the files inside the player.

For now that solves the problem for me, Thanks Matt.

thank you guys, i solved it too, but, in options>services>youtube i choice highest quality available(by defoult was 1mb/s or slowest) so i think if someon got same problem, could be choice not only slowest bitrate than was, but maximum(highest quality available, maybe this will help

thanx
