AnandTech video settings
« on: May 08, 2012, 06:01:25 pm »

I thought I'd give the settings Anand used in his article a try, but I can't get the LAV properties page as he shows in his screen shots.

Under Video>Custom Mode>Red October HQ Type: Video decoder,  I do not have a choice for Filter: "LAV Video Decoder". Therefore I can't get to the properties as shown by AnandTech. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

From AnandTech website screen shots:

You have to use a manual installation of LAV Filters.

Have you installed the LAV DirectShow filters? MC doesn't expose the internal LAV filters in the custom options.

You can find the download link here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191

EDIT

Mojave was a bit faster than me...

Note that you need to keep them up2date once you install them manually.
A version mismatch between the RO version and a set of manually installed filters can cause crashes.

Thats an issue on my list which needs fixing sooner or later, but its not trivial to do and requires a lot of changes.

No, I did not install the filters "outside of MC". Perhaps you can save me the effort. Are the settings in the "MC install" of LAV different from what is shown in the screen shot above? Is there anything worth changing (any improvements to be had)?
 Thanks.
