Squeezebox Touch with MC
« on: June 26, 2012, 12:51:26 pm »

I can no longer put my HTPC near my main amp for listening, so I'm looking into options for playing wirelessly. It looks like the Squeezebox Touch would be the most convenient, though I'm concerned that its internal DAC will not perform at the level of the internal DAC on my Juli@ sound card.

I'm also concerned that streaming wirelessly will degrade the sound.

But my main question is how the interface of the SBT works with MC. Can someone who's used it describe it to me. Is it configurable? To what extent?

Search for whitebear on this forum. It's a dlna server/client that connects your sb to jrmc's dlna server.

Yes. And to be quite fair, Logitech also has a plugin that allows MC to push a stream to a Squeezebox. So you can either use my Whitebear or the Logitech plugin. The main difference is that the Logitech plugin uses mp3 as the lowest common denominator, whereas Whitebear allows you to push hi-res lossless streams to your Squeezebox. Another difference is that Whitebear allows gapless playback.
