Turning off the PC when headless
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:16:18 am »

I'd like to run my PC headless and use webgizmo to control JRiver via my iPad.  However, sometimes when I turn off my PC (by just pressing the power button) it doesn't seem to shut down properly and JRiver will not boot up properly when I start the PC again.  I'm on W8.   Any suggestions?

I ran into that the other day.  I had to Remote Desktop into the headless Win8 music server to close an MC18 dialogue box that needed attention before MC18 would start.

I don't think it's entirely realistic to think that a Windows PC will run forever without requiring an occasional peek via a Remote Desktop connection or - worst case - attaching a keyboard and monitor if network connectivity becomes a problem.
