How to get DD, DTS, TrueHD, DTS-HD and DTS-MA bitstream in MC17
« on: September 24, 2012, 05:13:38 am »

I m new with MC17 and trying to decide if I will buy it. It seems that MC17 supports SVP Frame (just tested) so that s a good start for the things I m looking for in MC17 compatibility. What I want to do next is config MC17 in order to get DD, DTS, TrueHD, DTS-HD and DTS-MA bitstreaming work. I m used to MPC-HC+LAV filters combo and with that it works flawlessly (by checking the right boxes in LAV audio filter). Is all I have to do add the LAV filters as custom filter in the MC17 setup and good to go after that? I ve read that LAV is integrated in MC17 but checking Red October HQ and BITSTREAMING at settings at HDMI gives my a fault (can t remember which fault it is. Will have to look this up tonight when I m home).
I own a GTX460 with the 306.23 WHQL driver installed and running W7x64.

I think all you need to do is set Bitstreaming to Yes under Tools/Options/Video. I think extra filters may only get in the way of MC doing it's job properly as everything you need is built in.

The only thing I guess you need to ask yourself is, do I really want bitstreaming?

That s not working (gives a fault but can t tell you the fault exactly because I m at work atm.)

I need to tweak the LAV filter settings for specific purposes. Am I stuck with a separate LAV filters installation and add them as manual filters in the MC17 option?

To summarize again what I m looking for:
I m using MPC-HC+LAV filters+madVR and that s all that is needed for HQ video playback and bitstreaming. What I want is: MC17+LAV filters+madVR and LAV filters and madVR customizable myself and bitstreaming work.

I own a D-Box system and I need bitstreaming for that. However, that s not relative right now. All I m looking for it to get bitstreaming to work, not the question why I want to use it.

Hi,

my experience is that you need to reinstall LAV filters after you did a jriver installation (or upgrade!). Otherwise you cannot access the LAV filter settings from the custom video option. However, tonight I found out that current version of jriver does not work when you install the latest version of LAV filters (0.51.3). You have to install V0.50.5 instead.

Could it be that the latest build accidentally did not include the latest LAV filters?

Last night I got bitstreaming working. I had to choose WASAPI. (I also tried WASAPI - Event Style and that one seems to work with my GTX460 and I ve read that this is a better audio option to choose then the default WASAPI).
I also did a full pc format. After this I FIRST installed MC17 and AFTER this I installed the latest versions of madVR (there s a new version since this week) and LAV filters and added them as custom filters. How do I know if MC17 is using them or the madVR and LAV that comes with MC17?

Next thing I did was making a second zone because that s why I m eventually interested in MC17; I hope I can achieve dual audio output. That second zone I configured as WASAPI also but with my onboard SPDIF output instead of my GTX460 audio output. I linked the 2 players I created but it MC17 crashed (stopped working windows fault) immediately after trying to run content. Is the problem that one cannot run 2 players with both WASAPI?
