Cakewalk UA25 EX, Windows 7 and WASABI in JRiver 17
« on: October 08, 2012, 01:48:26 pm »

Hello
I have a question regarding using WASABI with my Cakewalk UA25EX external USB DAC. A bit of background:until now I have used my Windows 7 PC with an ATI video card, sending sound and picture via the HDMI output to my TV and from there with a toslink cable to the DAC. The DAC is connected to the PC via its USB cable, drawing power from the PC. The default sound device is the ATI HDMI out. This has worked fine so far, ultimate sound quality from my PC has not been a priority up to now as I also used a good CD player. I want to change that now.
I made the obvious changes: changed the default sound device in the Windows 7 Control Panel to the Cakewalk and setting the JRiver to WASABI, giving it exclusive access rights to use the Cakewalk. But then I get no sound. So far I left the Cakewalk setting unchanged, which means that the "Use ASIO Direct Monitor" box is ticked. In addition, in the Control Panel/Sound the DAC is set for CD quality (44.1khz 16bit) and applications are granted exclusive access rights to use it.
What am I missing?

Thank you very much in advance GermaninLondon
