Media Center 17 upgrade to Windows 8 Issue
« on: October 27, 2012, 07:01:33 pm »

F. Y. I. During Setup of Windows 8 (and Pro), Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant will list Media Center 17 as 'compatible', which is not exactly correct. After I upgraded to Win8, it was necessary to reinstall MC 17. I did not remove the previous MC 17 installed under Windows 7 because I did not want to loose my library. Install was very quick and I've encountered no problems so far.

I *have* encountered a problem : Media Center installs a shell extension which makes jumplists in explorer taskbar inactive.
Some links in control panel have stopped working also

The solution (for me) was to disable that extension using ShellExView fom Nirsoft
