DTS MC18
« on: January 02, 2013, 10:47:49 am »

Does MC18 allow you to stream Music DVD Audio directly to ´surround receiver wthout processing data??
I have many Music DVD's and most of them have a DTS5.1 Audio Track whish I find a better quality than Dolby5.1.
I have now spent sufficient time in DSP and with Audio output modes  :'(and still I have not found the solution to this.
It is annoying in particular because Windows Media Center (that I really don't want to use) manages this perfectly. My receiver immediatedly recognizes the DTS stream.

Would love to dump Windows MC.....

I have not switched over to MC18 yet.  But see my past threads for some possible help.

This may help:

That appears to be about DTS audio CDs, while I think the OP is talking about DVD Video, and having a preference setting to use DTS rather than AC3.

In the settings:
Audio -> Bitstreaming -> SPDIF?

This should pass your DTS untouched to your receiver.

But what if the disk (or file) has both DTS and AC3 ?

That wasn't really part of the OPs question.

But if this is the case, and the AC3 is selected by default, you have to switch it manually, the DVD Navigator doesn't really allow anything else.
