Maximize device volume during playback Question
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:06:06 am »

I noticed this from the latest version of MC18:

"13. Changed: Renamed the new WASAPI - Event Style option from "Maximize hardware volume during playback" to "Maximize device volume during playback" to better match Windows naming"

What exactly does this do? Does it override any other volume settings, such as volume levelling/replay gain?

Thanks

The option maximizes the device / hardware volume.

There's some explanation for why it's useful here:

Thanks Matt.

Would this only be checked if using the Loudness control? I'm still not clear on whether it overrides volume levelling/replay gain if enabled in DSP settings? I didn't see anything about that in the topic/comments you linked to.

Thanks.

It might be useful if you use Loudness, but it's not connected to that feature in any way.

It sets the Windows system volume slider for the device to 100% during playback and restores it when you stop.  It is independent of the audio / DSP chain.
