SMARTLIST: CompleteAlbum is FALSE
« on: January 04, 2013, 08:17:01 pm »

What is the full criteria for a smartlist with "Complete Album is FALSE"?

I have one album... flac ... that has been showing up in the list for about a month now.

All tracks are consecutive  1, 2 and 3
All tracks have the same Artist and Album string.
"Album Artist" is empty.
All tracks are in the same folder.
Media Type is "Audio"

Does the total track time amount to > 10 minutes?

The total track time for the 3 tracks is 12:51.  I have many other similar albums that are not on the list (1 - 3 tracks), and some are less than 10 minutes and are not on the list.

I must have something tagged wrong.. but I can't see it.

If you select the album, and then export as a CSV playlist, including only the selected album, and post it here, I'll drop a second pair of eyes on it.  Be sure to include ALL tracks with the same Album name.

Sorry, can you include ALL fields (not just the fields in the view)?  It is a setting in the export dialog.

Ok, its as I expected, but the behavior is peculiar, probably having something to do with when MC calculates the [Album Type] and [Complete Album] fields.

It is related to the [Disc #] field.

When [Disc #] is the same for all the tracks, MC will use the criteria you've noted.

When there is a gap between the [Disc #] field for the tracks, MC appears to be using a slightly different criteria.

It is not sufficient to just delete the [Disc #] values, or set them all the same, as MC won't re-calculate the [Album Type] / [Complete Album] fields, so the album will remain incomplete.  However, you can force the matter by changing any tracks album name temporarily, and then changing it back.  MC will then shortly thereafter recalculate [Album Type] and [Complete Album].

@Matt - since [Album Type] and [Complete Album] rely on the fields [Album], [Track #], [Disc #], [Filename (path)], and [Duration], perhaps those two calculated fields should be re-evaluated and updated whenever any of those field's values change.

Thank You MrC.

I would never have figured that one out by myself, even if I'd seen the Disc # mismatch.

Years ago I created a field called "Volume" to use as the disc number, I have no memory of why I did that instead of using the Disc # field.

Thanks to MrC here.

It's normal that if the disc numbers are different, the tracks will be considered different albums by the album evaluator.  One thing to consider is that a blank disc number is the same as "1" (so a 1 implied).

My understanding from MrC's description is that the bug is that changing the disc # doesn't get the album analyzer to reevaulate until you restart the program.  I'll look into this.

Matt, could you please also see if Mr. Album Evaluator could ignore files in an album where Track# is null or 0. (If I, for correct album art display purposes, add a very short file with Track# 0, the otherwise complete album gets marked as incomplete, so I think Mr. Album Evaluator is a bit overzealous in this respect.)

I just posted something about Album Artist (Auto) - this tag doesn't seem to update when changes are made after initally imported.....  Can this be part of the album evaluator?

Next build:
Fixed: When changing a disc number, the program would not refresh the album analyzer fields like 'Complete Album'.
