transfering files to HDD
« on: March 07, 2013, 03:14:57 am »

Hi all,

my apologies if this has been asked and covered before, but looked up the search function and could not really see anything relevant.
All my CD ripped are located in computer-local disk (c)-users-saintpierre-my music and this is filling my HDD fast and slowing my laptop.
I want to move them to an external HDD so i am assuming it s as easy as to drag and drop onto the external HDD, but worried jrievers will not find the tracks, or will there be any issues accessing them.
can anybody confirm if it s easy to do and do i have to change any of jriver settings?
regards
jean

It's not difficult. You should just make sure that the autoimport function is switched off. Also to be absolutely sure you shouldn't run MC when the external drive is not present.
But it will be running Ok. To be sure also that plugging /unplugging the external drive is not reassigned by your laptop to different drive letters i would attch the external drive and map it as a network drive.
