Play to another system without copying first?
« on: April 21, 2013, 02:42:55 pm »

One of the things that I would really like to do, is to play a video from my PC on my HTPC without copying the file to the HTPC.

There's an item under Playing Now titled "There: Philips TV", which I presume it is picking up as the monitor for the HTPC. When I try selecting Tools > Send To > Play (There: Philips TV) > Play, I get a popup dialog saying that the database entries for the selected files are missing.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or if it's not working right. Any ideas?

I should mention that I do not necessarily want to add these files to the library; I would like to just stream them to the HDTV, and then I can move the files to the library folders later if I decide to keep them.

It sounds like files need to be part of the library before they can be streamed over the network.
