gizmo check your server
« on: April 27, 2013, 02:49:45 pm »

I bought j river for this, but my free remote for android is better, every single day, gizmo suffers with the check your server stuff. Not good tbh.

Could you provide a little more information?  It's hard to know what you're seeing.

So I start gizmo which wakes up my pc from sleep, all good, but then the could not connect comes up on mobile, after it tries to connect. After a while pc goes off, as it should, then if I press gizmo app again, it starts up pc again, and issue starts all over. I try on all the tablets in the house, even via web gizmo, but it says, web page unavailable. I have tried, reloading both gizmo app, even j river, turned off all firewalls, disabled unified remote, but so intermittent, hard to judge what it id. Thanks.

If you're trying to connect using your LAN, then it is probably a firewall or router problem.  Try the wiki topic called "Network Access".

Turning off a firewall may not be enough.  You may need to uninstall it to deactivate it.

Ok, will take a look, surely if firewall causing issue, then it would permanently not work?

Also, it fires up pc from sleep, but then the check server thing pops up on phone, even though pc is on okay.

A new Gizmo will be available in a few hours.  It should work better with a connection that comes and goes.

.0.180 / 72

Changed: Errors communicating with the server show an information
bubble, but don't cause the program to automatically reconnect to the
 server.
Changed: When acting as a remote, an error communicating with the server
to get information about what's playing will look more transparent.
Changed: When playing on the device, the program will retry for up to 10
minutes to open the URL to better handle sporadic connections.
