This started about 3-4 months ago I think.  When I click in the "New" button to the left of a topic to show only the new posts, it works just fine, but when I return to the full topic list, the topic I just viewed AND several others no longer show the "New" button.  Many/most of the other topics still show the button, but not all the ones that showed it before.

It seems that clicking on one new topic clears the new button on 3-4 topics simultaneously.  I just kept thinking it was a funky thing that would resolve itself, but so far, it's not gotten any better.  I would guess it has something to do with the time of all the affected posts, but have not spent much/any time trying to isolate the issue/cause.

Anyone else seeing this?

Nope.  Not happening here on Firefox, Chrome, or sometimes-Safari.

Hmm...

Happens on IE8 at work, and latest stable Firefox at home.
