Galaxy S3 Slow Loading On-Device Files

Last night I completed a sync of around 9000 songs to my Galaxy S3 to it's 64gb micro SD. I noticed I was missing just a few songs so I tried to plug it in again and it took around 30 minutes to show me all the songs that are on my device again. This seems like a process that should be nearly instant. Is there a reason why it is taking so long on JRiver, whereas in the normal Explorer it is obviously nearly instant to load my files?
