Is the DisplayPort link more likely to have troubles coming out of sleep than any other?

In my case it's a setup with an AMD 7850 miniDP to DP on LG 27EA83-D. I have a second monitor where I'm using a miniDP to DVI adapter (just because I have it). The PC goes to sleep fine, wakes up fine, but no image on either monitor. Disconnect the miniDP ports on the video card, re-connect and voila! image on both monitors. On Win7, Win 8, no change. Fresh installs, latest possible drivers, etc.

Is the video card releasing the link (being that it's supposed to transport audio too) when entering sleep and not resetting its status but upon a fresh new (re)connect? Is this true for all graphic cards with DL or miniDP ports? What are experience do we have with this if any? Thanks.
