Select file from the tool bar while track info page is displayed internally and the pop-out menu that shows up for library loses focus. I think this is because the 'playing now splitter bar' for the internal view pops out of hiding and takes the focus.

MusicEx track info page shows no cover art.

Toggle to full screen view and whatever was selected previously remains. Example- if vis is selected internally then toggled to fullscreen, track info page will be displayed if it was the last item in full screen. Shouldn't the current selection be displayed? In this case the visualizations.

MJ is almost unuseable for me on these last two builds. Without the DSP, the output is overmodulated, and horribly distorted. I can't figure out how to fix this.  The EQ and preamp slider do not work as well. Please make a pre 8.0.230 build available until you fix, or give me advice on how to work around this.

JimC,

From what I've seem from people in the past with your type of problem, the problem was fixed by updating the soundcard's drivers via the manufacturer's website.  Tell us what soundcard, system and OS you are using...also, if you've not done so, try updating your soundcard's drivers.

Bug:

1. The Plug-In manager does not support the "Custom" Quality for the MP3 Encoder plug-in...like the Options > Encoder dialog does (for MP3 Encoder).  This can be quite confusing if you use the Plug-In manager to setup you MP3 Encoder and don't see an "Custom".  I guess if you look at these two places for configuring the MP3 Encoder, you'll see that Quality has a different meaning on each screen...that's confusing in its self.

Music01 Server crashes BUT...

I had Music01 server running under 227 OK as a private server on port 20090.
Yesterday I upgraded in place to 230 and had Music01 server running OK.
Today I upgraded in place to 231 and the Music01 server crashed as it attempted to open the library...

The application, , generated an application error
The error occurred on 03/20/2002 @ 19:02:25.328
The exception generated was c0000005 at address 00412AAE (
Application exception occurred:

So, I did a complete uninstall (with manual cleaning of disk and registry) and reloaded 227 and restarted Music01.  It came up in the default config but after I reset it to private, port 20090, and to use the MediaJukebox library, and restarted it from the main app, it crashed with the same error.  I discovered though that if I closed the main app, then started Music01 server it came up fine.  Now it runs fine with the main app open or closed and without regard to startup order.

I upgraded in place to 231 and the server is still fine.

The 231 client is still toast.  It throws an Integer division by 0 error when trying to play a file on the server.  It opens the connection OK.

Remy.

Oh yeah, I just noticed that the "Disable Viaualizations" menu option is now missing.

Was playing a playlist and looking at the new help files and decided to print something from the help files and received error listed below

Internal buffering error in Media Jukebox's playbac engine.  Playing buffer accumulated too much spent data.

Please report this error to JRiver as soon as possible sot that it can be fixed.

Was able to complete the printing, but was unable to continue using MJ.
Closed MJ came up with Kernel Error 32 as stated in previous build.

Bugs:
1. When burning Data CDs, MJ still complains about it is going to truncate file names to 64 characters when using the GoldenHawk driver (not the generic driver). In an MJ release a few weeks ago, a fix was reported that we would be able to burn file names with 108 (or 110) characters using GoldenHawk and 64 when using the generic driver.

2. If, indeed, the MJ error box said it was going to truncate the file names to 64 characters, MJ actually truncated the names to 60 characters (56.3 or <56charname>.mp3 format).

3. Just figured out a cool thing MJ does for in-place editing...but it seems it is just a bit flawed (bugged), maybe. Basically, you can press F2 to start in-place of a field, but it's hard to tell MJ which field. It seems you have to 'tell' MJ which field you want to edit with F2 press by first right-clicking the field (column), cancelling that click and, then, pressing F2. I know I could choose Rename from the right-click menu, but it seems flawed...play with F2 rename and see what I mean. It seems you should be able to tell MJ which field an F2 rename is for my just left click the field (column) during the selection process and then pressing F2. After you play with the F2 method, I think you'll agree (I hope). As is now, F2 rename follow whatever field (column) you last right-clicked on...but, you use left-clicks to select (normally)...so, seems left-clicks on fields should count too for telling MJ what you want to rename (F2).

4. mini-me Always On Top does not work

5. Some skins will not load from mini-me's right-click menu, but will from Skin Manager

6. If mini-me fails to load a new skin, the revert back to default skin feature fails and leaves just an MJ icon in the task bar

7. When returning to MEGA-Me from mini-me mode, the MJ MEGA-Me (normal) screen is not made active (ie, does not have the focus...requires Alt-Tab or mouse-click to regain the focus)

8. A while back, the Home node was renamed Start, but the View menu and Customize Toolbars dialog still call it Home (inconsistant)

9. In Customize Toolbar, the Open Streaming File toolbar item still has the underscore displayed under the S character (as if someone accidently left the & character in the description)

10. All too often, MJ crashes when returning from mine-me mode to MEGA-ME mode...I'd say about 70 to 80% of the time...doesn't matter what mini-me skin I'm using, see:

Metamorphis engine/MJ Automation bugs:

1. The CMJFileAutomation object is missing properties for SampleRate and # of Channels.

Update:
Nevermind...I figured out these properties are the CMJPlaybackAutomation object...duh!

2. If you programmatically set the Text property of a InfoDisplay skin item (in a Playback change event, for example), Metamorphis does not recognize and interpret the predefined Trackinfo keywords (like ARTIST, ALBUM, etc).  This makes it hard to dynamically & intelligently change InfoDisplay text if you can't insert non-static track info like ELAPSED_TIME and REMAINING_TIME.

Was playing with MJ earlier and left it open (stopped) for about 6hours. Now when I started playing, it played for 3secs and then crashed for no reason. Must be a leak as it doesn't crash now when doing the same thing.

Playing mp3 (id3v2) format (no cover art, replay gain and rating in tag).
Jump to playing now is off and wasn't in "Playing Now" at the time.
Using Crossfade (Agressive, 2.0secs)
EQ is Off
Visualization Mode set, "Not Again" Vis.

When "Auto-Hide" is set ON for the Slider Bar, left clicking on either the plugin or scheme brings up the menus (normal). When you go to select an item, if the mouse falls off display area, the bar hides itself and the menu goes away and you can't select anything. This doesn't happen when clicking the left button on the slider bar (same as right click in display).

Opening any menu in the display (right clicking, bug above, left button on slider), and selecting an item, it always "double clicks". This hold true in mini-me aswell.

---->  MJ fails to update ID3 tags when trying to change the tags on more than 1 file.

I had a similar problem with many of my mp3s. I post it several times but it never got answered. So what I found out is some incompatibility to some mp3-header. It worked on some, but failed on other. It worked fine, after I used RealPlayer to update all my headers.

Maybe JRiver should think about this !!!!

Metamorphis Requests:

1. New OnClick and OnDblClick item events for InfoDisplay, Window (bitmap image) and Picture (placeholder) entries. In addition to these events, full support for getting X/Y coordinates and Shift/Alt/Ctrl of the click event (eg. as procedure params and/or properties somewhere).

2. Restore() function call to return mini-me from the system tray.  I'm thinking of using this within an event (OnPlayStateChanged) to restore MJ to mini-me if minimized to the system tray (optional feature).

3. Along with #2 request, a new Metamorphis property to query the current mini-me state (minimized or restored).

Install : I have a blank line with a checkbox at the very top of the list of supported file types.

If I right click and choose Play on anything, MJ crashes.

Once in a while if I click (right or left) I get an "Analyzing Devices" popup for about a second, even if what I'm clicking on has nothing to do with any devices.

I tried playing my 1 hour long, 2 APL (each a half hour in length from the same 60 minute APE) playlist, but this time I used the sleep timer so I could tell how far into playback MJ crashed. It crashed ~59 minutes, 35 seconds into playback. Basically it played through the playlist once, and before it started again, it crashed. But if I create a playlist of just one 5 minute MP3 file, it played continously for at least 20 minutes without a crash.

Whenever I use the next/previous playlist function with the remote, MJ crashes.

I forgot to check this last night, and I can't today, but in the last build, if I right clicked on the display window with a video playing (any format), the menu appeared far to the left and up of where I actually clicked. This only happens for videos, not for visualizations or Track Info.

Music01 Server Crashing...

This should be fixed in the next build. There were some minor changes made in MJ database a few builds back and Music01 Server wasn't ready to accept that. If the database wasn't modified, thus never updated to the new database, then the current Music01 Server should work as before.

Track info templates:

* Boxed: cover art gets too big and blocks for the text

* MusicEx, cover art is not displayed in the box

This is not a 231 specific bug, but a rather old one, still existing in 231.

Suggestion:

1. Since I'm using the Download Mananger more lately, I've noticed the abbreviation it uses for Average (under Speed column) is 'Ave' which not very standard (Ave=Avenue).  I'm suggesting you change it to 'Avg' as that's more standard.

2. Download Manager needs a Downloads menu and right-click menu option to 'Clear All Completed' items so you don't have click each completed download first then click 'Clear'.

100% Crash rate when attempting to open previously functioning audio streams, whether from playlist entries, or typing directly into the "open streaming" dialog.

BTW- MJ8x upgrades have been wiping out my playlists fairly regularly, necessitating library restores.

Turns out the deleted Playlists are being caused by me rather than the update, sort of.  Updating my library after a library restore appears to get rid of all my audio streams playlist entries.  While my action caused the playlists to disappear, I don't really see why updating the library should erase all my streaming audio entries.
