Streaming problem
« on: August 04, 2013, 03:14:14 am »

Sometimes (2-3 times a day) while listening to an HTTP stream MC is getting stuck on "Buffering..." for infinite amount of time. Restarting playback by Stop then Play solves the problem, so it's definitely not an issue with the streaming source (which is http://shoutmedia.abc.net.au:10342/ BTW).
One more problem with radio - MC ignores Title1 in .pls, displaying "HTTP Stream" instead of a real name (example, just in case: http://abc.net.au/res/streaming/audio/aac/radio_australia_eng_pacific.pls).

The server may be terminating the connection after a few hours, in order to save bandwidth.

I wonder if MC can automatically restart the connection in such a situation, instead of manual Stop-Play?

We get this problem all the time listening to streaming radio. Are you suggesting this a MC server problem or a radio station server problem?

On verge of buying a radio!

Thanks

its almost definitely a server problem, id inspect the http headers for KEEP ALIVE setting (unless that's configurable somewhere in mc?)
