What does MC19 do every 90 seconds ??
« on: August 31, 2013, 08:13:01 pm »

I watched Process Explorer while MC19 was working, and every 90 seconds, there is a CPU spike of about 35% of one of the two cores, labeled as MC19, and then there is a CPU spike of 100% of one of the two cores, labeled as "Hardware Interrupts".  (UPDATE: If I check "use large hardware buffers" in ASIO, then the amount of the CPU usage goes down, but there is still something every 90 seconds (roughly).  Checking that option does remove the new random "clicks" that MC19 added to video playback when using the stereo DAC with ASIO, so it seems the feature is more needed with MC19.)

This occurs while playback is paused, as well as during playback.    There is no network or other i/o activity.

What is it doing ?

Memory playback is switched on, but this occurs while it is paused, so one would think that is not relevant ??

When playback is stopped, all CPU goes to zero and stays there...

I'm guessing it's auto-import checking for new files?

Probably not as the spikes stop when playback is stopped.

You're right - I missed the fact that it stops when there's no playback, and only when playing or paused.

More investigation:

* Does not change if "Memory Play" is unchecked

* Does not change if "Media Server" is unchecked

Verified again that there is little or no CPU use for awhile if stop button is pressed, and about 20% of one core use, every 80-90 seconds (hard to get an exact number), listed by ProcessExplorer as "Interrupts" when MC19 is playing.  Since it is affected by the "use large hardware buffers" setting (see above), then perhaps it is some buffer being filled and emptied every 80-90 seconds ?
