Neat.

There's a good chance we'll do ARM.  Performance is a big question mark.  My guess is a quad-core ARM would be a lot more fun than a single core like they use in the Pi.

The low cost of the Raspbery catches your attention. This article points out some issues:

Power limitations and hanging the ethernet connection off the USB controller seem poor choices for a network audio device.

There are lots of cheap ARM-on-a-board devices.

The old Squeezebox die-hard fans are building replacement hardware and software for the now-defunct Squeeze-line.  They have working prototypes, based on Wandaboards.  They have made good progress.
