while browsing in theater view the system hangs, a short crackle sound and then it hangs again then finally \i have to close mc19. \I have made an log of the event.
I have added some details of the system that I am running. please help with this problem I have tried practically everything.

no, it happens after awhile sometimes 5 min but usually after 15 minutes or longer of browsing. I am flipping back with the mouse from opening an artist with multiple cd's or from a single artist contents, but it is always when I am returning to the general artist display. when I see it hang for an split second, then the sound of what is playing at the time cracks up for an split second and everything freezes.

I just removed mc18 and mc19 and reinstalled mc19. started up mc19 went directly to theater view opened an file in artist view went to playing nowselected play, wanted to return and it stopped playing with an stutter and I am getting an message that I have to close the program.

it is crashing now in the first minute of browsing, it crashed while selecting an file in artist view, browsing in theater view. I have updated all drivers for the mouse and video card. it is to the best of my knowledge, only crashing in theater view.

do not have antivirus, this pc is for mc19 only. have a few programs for converting and modifying flac and wav files,tags etc..

they are usually flac sometimes ape and seldom wav, sacd, dts, iso sacd. running no antivirus. all files are local direct from the hard drive. mc18 and mc19 have the same problem.
problem only exists in theater view. I am always play backing something while browsing. it only happens when I am actively browsing with the mouse during an click of an button.

I really want this problem solved, I know the problem only exists in theater view but that happens to be the view that I wish to use, it is the most compatible for my setup. I have tried turning off auto import, analyzing files was already turned off. the only other thing that is left to do and that is to reinstall windows, but then I find it strange that this only happens in theater view.

You're using crash and hang interchangeably, but they are a little different.

Does the program get stuck (a hang) or does it disappear (and maybe show a system crash dialog)?

Could you make a log using Help > Logging showing a full run + crash and mail it to logs at jriver [dot] com?

Thanks for the log.

It looks like thumbnail drawing from a background thread was missing a lock, so that it could crash in some cases.

Since you seem to be able to reproduce this easily, could you test this build and see if it solves it:

I have been trying to get it to hang for hours, the problem seems to be solved. Thank You. the thumbnails at certain times while browsing do display a certain delay when flipping back and forth but shorter en less frequently then before this new version. I am very happy with the results.
