mc19 newbie questions
« on: September 25, 2013, 01:09:16 am »

Hi

I downloaded the trail version of mc19.

I checked around forums, but could only see old posts.

I have 2 technisat usb hd tuners and a technisat pci hd card. All FTA dvb-s2.
The usb cards are not detected. Is there some config file to edit to activate them?

Is diseqc 1.2 supported yet? I have 2 dishes on each tuner.

Is there any support for hbbtv / mheg5 standards, so bbc red button and bbc iplayer for example are available?

I like the front end of jriver, but dvbviewer seems to support more. To move to and pay for jriver, i need to know it will work as technically well as dvbviewer.

Thanks for any replies.

From the outline of your questions (strong TV focus), it seems to me that you're probably looking in the wrong place(s). The right place to scratch around is here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=11.0

I've made relevant comment recently under the TV board here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=82855.0

This post (although specifically about different hardware) has a useful lesson:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83806.0
Relevant to you?

Ensuring that your hardware drivers are the latest, is a common check to cover off.

For standards, you might want to look here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/TV_Formats

Come back and ask further questions when you've had a read.

Regarding how MC compares with dvbviewer, you've got a free 30 day trial. Should be long enough for you to decide.

I've had a quick search on the net but can't readily find the tuner's OEM website. That's another base to cover. Making sure you've covered the kit's setup basics squared off, stops that question being asked.

All the best ..

Yes .. there's a post on hardware in one of the links I put up previously

Look at the sticky posts at the top of the board.

If you're stuck, again look to the TV board and follow the sticky post near the top for extracting a troubleshooting log and sending it off for analysis.

Have you addressed the basic install steps?

http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Television#Install_the_Tuner
Please make sure you look at the whole wiki entry on TV and report at what step in the process you have a problem.

If you've done all that then:
   Drives & Devices > Television > TV Options ... > Advanced > Show Status...
should reveal the situation. There's an auto copy to clipboard. Come back here and post up the result.

After that, then it's an in depth technical problem. I repeat the comment, generate a log and follow the submission process (also, raise a separate thread under the TV board, your cries for help will tend to get drowned out in the high traffic areas).

Just to cover more of the basics, this info is pretty useful:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=81109.0
and the Wiki has useful info in it as well:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Category:Frequently_Asked_Questions

I can't help you with licence questions. Don't be surprised if you face a non-positive response. I've seen a number of comments from the MC development team expressing reluctance to this kind of proposal. You're dealing with established precedent and policy. One for the custodians of the business.
